Men Love your Wives

Men, do not feel that I am going to attack you with harsh words.  This is not for me, but for you.  You had once found a perfect woman who you love so much you wanted to spend the rest of your life with her.  How1 Peter 3:7ever, the flames died after so many years.  She is not the youthful woman you knew.  Or, she is not as what you thought she was.  What ever it maybe, you are now searching for reasons to stay with her.  (Um, yea or you would not be on this page.)

The Bible tells us a lot of things about marriage.  This section is for you:

1 Peter 3:7 (ESV)

7 Likewise, husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way, showing honor to the woman as the weaker vessel, since they are heirs with you of the grace of life, so that your prayers may not be hindered.

Yes, even though we do not like to admit it, or will not, God designed us to be the weaker partner.  God gave you a partner who is to be like a delicate rose.  Frail yet so beautiful in many ways.  Now, do not take this wrong, there have been some roses that have learned to be tougher as they grew up.  They learned to never be weak.  It is your place to love your wife and show her that she is safe with you.  Unfortunately, some men get aggravated… Yes, it is a sin that men are sometimes born with.  They feel the urge to show their wife or girlfriend that they are in control.  Or the woman says something that they did not like and they see nothing but red.  So what better way to shut such an annoyance up? Slap it away.  But, God did not make a woman to be a punching bag.  She is your partner. Sometimes it is hard to do this, but restrain yourself if you feel the urge and then later, ask your wife in a calm, relaxed manner, to read in the Bible with you.  Or watch a nice movie together.  Or watch Fire Proof.  Spend the time rationally with her and express to her your feelings so that the two of you may understand each others viewpoints.  Oh, and this is not just my advice:

Proverbs 17:14 (NIV)

14 Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam;
so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

So when you feel the urge to bicker, fight, drop the matter.  It is for the best in the long run.  It maybe a pain at first, eating at you and dwelling but what is better?  A fight, or no fight?

Psalm 11:5(NIV)

The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.

These are words from the Bible.  So do not hit your wife.  Do not belittle her.

Ephesians 5:28-33 (NIV)

28 In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. 29 After all, no one ever hated their own body, but they feed and care for their body, just as Christ does the church— 30 for we are members of his body. 31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.” 32 This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. 33 However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.

The Bible tells men to love their wives as they love your own body.  Would you want to be punched?  Insulted?  Then do not do what you do not want done to you to your wife.  The Bible tells men to love their wives.  Wives, we must respect our husbands.  We are not to disrespect the man of our home by doing what would anger him, or make him feel as if he is not valued in his own home.  Of course, I will go into more details on the wives page.

The Bible calls for men to love their wives.

The Bible calls for men to love their wives.

Ephesians 5:25 (NIV)

25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her

Christ came to earth, born from a virgin, to preach to us, and die for the glory of God and his church.  Meaning, Christ died so that the church we know today can exist.  He died to glorify God, his father.  If Christ is willing to do that, then why are so many not willing to keep the love alive and flowing here today?  With out Christ, there is no church.  Without a husband, there is no wife.

Now, this is true in more then just marriage:

Ephesians 4:29 (NIV)

29 Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

I think in America, we all have been a victim of verbal words that hurt.  Some people say that words cut deeper then any punch.  I have said some terrible words fly out at usually my husband.  Does that make my husband feel loved?  No, he will fire back with even more hateful words.  So in fact, this is true for more then just the husband.  Did Jesus ever let insults fly out of his mouth even when he was beaten for our sins?  No… he was silent.  We too, all of us, not just men but women as well, must avoid using hurtful words.  Does it ever work to call someone names?  Tell them they are worthless?  Do you get what you want?  The answer is most likely… no.

Proverbs 16:32(NIV)

32 Better a patient person than a warrior,
one with self-control than one who takes a city.

Like the other verses, this one emphasis again, self control.  We all fail to do this.  But, as you may see with the picture to the right of your screen… it means a lot.woman_is_like_a_rose  Treating a woman good… will make her blossom into the woman God wants and you as well.  Seriously, a woman who is treated badly will either wilt away like a rose… or.. turn extra thorny. Those thorns can hurt and then you got your hands on… well… something you do not want.  Ouch.  Which brings me to the next quote from the Bible:

Galatians 6:7(NIV)

Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.

Remember, God made a woman to be the man’s HELPER.  Not footstool, not punching bag and surly not to be used and considered unimportant.  Too many men use the Bible against women.  Yes, you know it.  But, even though the woman is the weaker sex, men, God never said to mistreat her!

Genesis 2:18(NIV)

18 The Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him.”

One last verse from the Bible and hopefully this seed will grow in you men.

Proverbs 5:18-20 (GNT)

18 So be happy with your wife and find your joy with the woman you married— 19 pretty and graceful as a deer. Let her charms keep you happy; let her surround you with her love. 20 Son, why should you give your love to another woman? Why should you prefer the charms of another man’s wife?

Oh, an also, cheating on your wife, is highly frowned upon by the Lord.  As stated above, why do it?  In the Bible, adultery is the only reason for a divorce.

Matthew 5:32 (GNT)

32 But now I tell you: if a man divorces his wife for any cause other than her unfaithfulness, then he is guilty of making her commit adultery if she marries again; and the man who marries her commits adultery also.

So if you have not gotten married yet… choose wisely.  Marriage is not a shoe.  You can not wear it, abuse it and find a new one and eventually throw out the other.  This is a woman who is also a child of God.  A gift to this earth, and to you.

God Bless.
